The Rise and Fall (DJ Kay Slay from around the way! The Trendsetter! hahahaha)

This is the reason, why Nas is my favorite rapper. Besides catering to my inclination to depressing rap, he just says those things that you can feel. Although Jay-z is my second favorite, anytime he veers from the negative aspects of the drug game, it seems forced and contrived. When I hear a Nas song of this nature, I feel that he wanted to let stuff off his chest. When I hear Jay, it seems like he wants to appear as if he wants to show that he can do what Nas does.
I wonder if this is a Premier beat, and why it never got put on to another album. It has signature Premo cuts during the chorus, but he usually doesn’t get down like this with the drums and the melody. This seems like the era between I am and Nastradamus. I got the version without all that Kay Slay jibber jabber, but sometimes when you hear the DJ version first you just get accustomed to it and it feels like it’s missing something without it.

Eyes popped when I drove my first ride on the block
Summertime block cookout parties, I spent my knot (Streetsweepers!)
I’m up at 5 o’clock writing this. Crazy right?
While I’m up I’ll drop a little gem.
The other voice on the chorus is Slick Rick from The moment I feared.
This was the rise and fall of my fast lane style
And I was the main event on the TV for a while
What part of the wave game is this?

I go in some random beauty shop on hillside ave for a new durag to lay it down, nah mean and I see this shit

I remember when durags used to mean something. This wasn’t what Nas was talking about on that song either. The dude giving the evil satan stare with his eyebrows shriveled up way past niggaz trying to wild out like Kane. I felt almost flagrant copping this ish.
The other side ain’t much better.

This look prison style and not even the gully part. I don’t know if the small chain was supposed to add more street cred to the product, but I’m offended.
Puts on durag and sucks teeth*
Fuck it the game don’t stop
Goodnight
